In her work as an arts mentor, Jill Timmons supports a broad range of individuals and organizations, assisting them in creating sustainable and vibrant arts initiatives. Part of her work includes building bridges between supporters and arts providers as they seek to enrich their communities and the nation. Whether she is mentoring individuals with career or life changes, or organizations in their mission development and strategic planning, Jill is committed to discovering what works and the action plan needed!
As an award-winning author, Jill has written on topics that navigate both the scholarly and trade markets, providing informed and thought-provoking narratives. In her latest book Variations on Life after 50: A Field Guide to Harnessing the Power of Creativity, Purpose, and Legacy in Midlife (Prometheus Books, Simon and Schuster distribution 2026), she offers a new paradigm for a thriving and purpose-driven life. As a pianist and educator, Jill has given concert performances, workshops, and residencies on three continents and throughout the U. S., including Carnegie Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, Meany Hall (University of Washington), the Dame Myra Hess series in Chicago, and Vienna’s Bösendorfer Hall, among others. Jill has also served as a National Endowment for the Arts state arts advocate for Oregon, Idaho, and Arizona. As a NEA Fellow, she recorded the complete works for solo piano by American composer, William Bergsma. As a career coach, Jill has mentored hundreds of individuals in seeking a thriving career in the music industry. Currently, Jill serves as a consultant to the Yamaha Corporation of America and to its representatives through Classic Pianos and their eight stores nationwide. In 2021-2022, she was awarded a Visiting Fellowship at Yale University. She holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and France.
When Jill isn’t writing, consulting, or making music, you will find her hiking trails along the Oregon coast or preparing one of Ina Garten’s exquisite recipes.
